In approximately 2010, I was diagnosed with an Upper Motor Neuron Disease. It is terribly debilitating. 

Sometime in 2011, having the need to use an assistive device to communicate, I decided I wanted to create my own app for this purpose. The existing apps were either too expensive to even try or lacking in one way or another. With no programming or computer science background, I began studying through on-line courses and numerous books. The app, Talk For Me - Text to Speech came from my efforts, as well as the others along the way. 

I have to thank Stanford University for offering so many tremendous on-line courses for free, Stephen Kochan for sharing his programming knowledge, and of course Apple for making the tools to do such great things.
